A look at the Web 2.0 can be beneficial since many companies are already utilizing it even when they are not aware of it yet. While many companies are still discussing and analyzing Web 2.0 for the possibilities it holds in the areas of marketing and sales, web users often have already taken care of that companies and their products are appearing in the Web 2.0. Many companies are not even aware of that they are partaker in it. The core of Web 2.0 and the applications behind it are user generated contents, which can be found in many portals and weblogs all over the internet. Information and especially reviews are published through customers and employees using Web 2.0 platforms. This is valid for nearly all companies starting with major manufacturers and service industries, also including hotels, retail markets, restaurants and online shops. So where is the problem? When companies are not aware of how much and what kind of information about them is available in the Web 2.0 they cannot do anything about negative reviews or false information. Instead of wondering what can be done, become part of the Web 2.0 and take back control over the information. When companies do not offer their clients, customers or even employees a platform they can use to communicate with or about the company and its products and services, they will find another place to do so. The information will be out there no matter what. It is the way this information is being handled which makes the difference. To learn to make the difference and to implement appropriate tools is vital to everybody. Content and information management has become a commodity in today´s world, and the persons and companies who have learned to deal and trade with this new commodity are the ones who will be able to use it to their advantage.
